After reading Chris
Phillips' hint on how to open the motor,
I couldn't resist opening one of my motors.
So I did...

Please do not attempt to open your motor if you plan to sue me! ;-)
Proceed at your own risk!
Chris' theory was correct,
I pushed the latch using
screws and paperclips through the holes on the top of the motor.
Some hand-eye coordination was required, but it was not brain surgery.
